Physio in Southbourne & Boscombe: Expert Physiotherapy Near You
If you live in Southbourne, Boscombe or Pokesdown and something hurts, it's easy to put off getting it looked at. A stiff back, a knee that complains on the stairs or a shoulder that won't let you reach the top shelf can quietly start to shape your day. Physiotherapy is often the quickest way to understand what's going on and get you moving properly again.
Natural Healing is an award-winning clinic on Christchurch Road in Boscombe East, a short trip from Southbourne and right next to Pokesdown. Here's what our physiotherapy in Bournemouth involves, who you'll see and what to expect.

Our studio is just along the road at 1097 Christchurch Road, which is handy if your rehab carries on into Pilates or one of our movement classes.
Meet Emily, our physiotherapist
Emily Stott is a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor with a background across the NHS, private practice and pitch-side rugby care. She has held Clinical Lead roles in musculoskeletal and community physiotherapy services, and has worked with everyone from adults in the community to younger, active people and athletes.
Emily holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and is an APPI-trained Pilates instructor, including antenatal and postnatal Pilates. That mix shapes how she works: hands-on treatment where it helps, and Pilates-based rehabilitation to build the strength and control that stop problems coming back. You can read more about her on our Meet the Team page.
What can physio help with?
Physiotherapy covers a wide range of muscle, joint and movement problems. Our physio can help with:
- Back pain, whether it came on suddenly or has been grumbling for months
- Sports injuries, from a pulled hamstring to a rolled ankle
- Muscle strains and ligament sprains
- Shoulder, hip, knee and ankle pain
- Postural aches from desk work, driving or long shifts on your feet
- Rehab after an injury or an operation, to rebuild strength and confidence
- Long-standing pain and injuries that keep coming back
If you run along the clifftop, get in the water at Southbourne or simply want to walk the dog without a niggle, physio can help you get back to it and stay there.
What happens at your first physio appointment?
Your first session is an assessment, and it's mostly about understanding the problem properly.
- A conversation. Emily will ask how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, your general health and what you want to get back to doing.
- A physical assessment. She'll look at how you move, test your strength and flexibility and examine the area that's giving you trouble.
- A clear explanation. You'll leave knowing what's likely to be causing your pain and what the plan is, in plain English.
- Treatment and a plan. Where it's appropriate, treatment can start in the same session, along with a few targeted exercises to do at home.
We don't have changing rooms, so come in comfortable clothes you can move in. If it's a leg or knee problem, shorts are useful. For a shoulder, a vest top makes it easier to see how the joint is moving.
Physio that joins up with everything else we do
One of the advantages of a clinic like ours is that physio doesn't have to happen in isolation. Under the same roof we have chiropractors, massage therapists and a movement studio, so if another approach would help your recovery, it's easy to bring it in. If you're not sure whether you need a physio or a chiropractor, our guide to choosing between physio and chiropractic explains the difference.
Once you're feeling better, our Back & Core class, a physio- and yoga-inspired class, and our Pilates classes in Bournemouth are a good way to keep that strength up.

No. You can book private physiotherapy directly, without seeing your GP first. If you'd like to know how this compares with the NHS route, read our guide to NHS and private physio in Dorset.

Our guide to what private physio costs in Bournemouth explains typical prices and what each appointment includes. For our current prices, call us on 01202 379315.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem, how long you've had it and what you want to get back to. Emily will give you an honest idea after your assessment, and the aim is always to get you managing on your own as soon as it makes sense.

Yes. There's plenty of free parking outside the clinic and on the surrounding roads.
